Hunger is Closer than you Think.

  • Hunger can affect people from all walks of life. Millions of people in America are just one job loss, missed paycheck, or medical emergency away from hunger. Hunger doesn't affect everyone equally - some groups like children, seniors, and people of color face hunger at much higher rates.

  • According to the USDA, more than 38 million people, including 12 million children, in the United States are food insecure

  • The pandemic has increased food insecurity among families with children and communities of color, who already faced hunger at much higher rates before the pandemic.

Children

Hunger or food insecurity affects every aspect of a child's life, including school performance and overall health and well-being. Children who receive free lunches at school often have nothing for breakfast, dinner, on weekends or school vacations. No child should be hungry.
