The Bread of Life was honored to be the recipient of a special food drive held by The Early Childhood Center at the Rye Community Synagogue to celebrate Purim. During this holiday, Queen Esther is remembered for the important role she played in saving the Jews from a threatened massacre in ancient Persia. These wonderful educators and children chose to fulfill their Purim mitzvah by collecting food for those who are hungry in our community. This abundance of food came just at the time when our shelves were running low due to increased demand in our community. Rising food prices have come on the heels of pandemic shortages which have together resulted in the increased need for food. The impact of this food drive for such a special holiday was a wonderful way to help The Bread of Life help those families in need in a “time such as this.”
