The Christmas Basket - God Had a Plan

During our Rye pantry day on December 19th, generous gift and food baskets

donated by our community, were joyfully received by many!

One beautiful basket, filled with several articles of clothing for a

a size 6 little girl, inadvertently went home with a senior citizen.

This lovely senior contacted us asking if the basket should be returned. We suggested that it be given to a child in need. She diligently contacted a ministry that helps families in the hopes of blessing a child but was told that they had already done

their Christmas distribution but would store the basket until it was needed. A few weeks later, the ministry received a call from a desperate mother saying that it was her daughter's birthday and she had no money to buy a gift. The mother asked if they had anything she could give to her little girl. When asked the age and size of the little girl, the mother replied, "size 6."

The contents of the "Christmas Basket" were given to the mother for her daughter's birthday. The director of the ministry called the senior citizen to tell her what had happened.

She began by saying, "God had a plan."This is just another beautiful example of God’s ways being higher! What was viewed as a mistake by many, was actually God’s way to bless a little girl in the future.
