A Case of Tuna and a Lifetime of Service
Today, I received a call from a woman who told me she was 92 years old and wanted to donate a case of tuna to the Bread of Life. I offered to stop by her home and pick it up.
When I arrived, I was so surprised and blessed to discover that the woman was none other than “Granny Jean.”
For many years, Granny Jean lovingly served our Rye community as the director of the Methodist Nursery School. She later became known to generations of local children, inclusing my own, through her wonderful story times at the Rye Free Reading Room.
What a blessing it was to see her again.
Granny Jean has spent so much of her life serving others, especially the children and families of our community. And now, at 92 years old, she is still looking for ways to give and help those in need.
To some, it may have been just a case of tuna. But to us, it was so much more. It was a beautiful reminder that there is no age limit on kindness, generosity, or service. God can use every gift, offered with a willing and loving heart, to bless someone else.
Thank you, Granny Jean, for your generous donation and for the many years you have poured into our community. Your heart for others continues to be an example and a blessing to us all.
