Fill the Letters: A Special Food Drive for the Bread of Life

On October 18 th the community will have a unique opportunity to donate food to Bread of Life. This is no ordinary food drive—it is a special Eagle Scout service project created and led by Reed, a local Scout who is working toward earning the rank of Eagle Scout.

Reed has volunteered with Bread of Life for the past five years and has seen firsthand the importance of caring for and giving back to the local community. When it came time to choose a service project for his Eagle Scout application, Reed knew he wanted to find a way to make a meaningful impact through Bread of Life.

The Eagle Scout service project is an important part of the journey toward earning the rank. Each Scout is given the opportunity to develop an idea, plan and organize the project, and then see it through from beginning to end. Reed chose a project that would provide a tangible benefit to those in need within our community.

Reed has created large letters spelling BREAD OF LIFE, which he will bring to the Rye Village Green on Sunday October 18th from 8:30–11:30 a.m. If it happens to rain on the 18th, there is a rain day scheduled for the 25th. Reed is inviting members of the community to help “fill the letters” by bringing food donations. Everything collected will be donated to Bread of Life and distributed to local individuals and families in need.

We are incredibly honored that Reed chose Bread of Life for his Eagle Scout project. His commitment to serving our community over the past five years, and his desire to continue making a difference, is truly inspiring.

We hope you’ll join Reed on October 18th and help us fill the letters with food—and our community with LIFE!
